Moore County Mayor Under SBI Investigation
Pinehurst, N.C. — State authorities are investigating the mayor of a Moore County town, but officials declined to say why.
Taylortown Mayor Ulysses S.G. Barrett Jr. has been under investigation by State Bureau of Investigation agents since July 31, sadi Noelle Talley, the spokeswoman for the state Department of Justice. The investigation was prompted by a request from the Moore County District Attorney's Office, she said.
The results of the probe will be turned over to the local authorities, Talley said, adding that she didn't know how long the investigation would take.
Barrett has served as mayor of Taylortown, located off N.C. Highway 211 near Pinehurst, for several years.
