HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. — The old Harnett County Courthouse was sold to the highest bidder last year. Now, everything inside has to go as well. Everything is on the auction block -- including the cell block.
Auctioneer Jimmy Johnson is running the sale, hoping people buy a piece of the past.
"Whether it brings $2 or $2,000 is kind of irrelevant, it's just the thrill of it," he said.
The building itself is historic, with some items, like railings, dating back to the late 1800s.
Everything must go -- that includes heavy vault doors and chairs from the jury box, jail cells, bars, beds, showers and toilets.
The auction takes place Jan 19 at 10 a.m. The minimum bid for items is $5.
