LEE COUNTY, N.C. — The National Transportation Safety Board has finished its preliminary report following a fatal plane crash near Sanford.
The federal agency is not any closer to determining a cause for the Dec. 17 crash, but it does note specific statements from some of the four survivors.
One passenger said the plane rolled onto its side and started dropping. The survivors said they did not hear the pilot report any problems.
The pilot, Jaime Beingolea, was killed. He and his four passengers were headed to the Centennial of Flight Celebration on the Outer Banks.
