Volunteers Needed For First Night Raleigh Festivities

"Of course, it's a concern. People will rally to the cause," said Terri Dollar, of First Night Raleigh. "They are just getting through Christmas and now they start thinking about the new year, so we definitely do need volunteers."

Volunteers will do everything from help with children's activities to help with the night's big attraction -- the acorn drop. Artist David Benson said he does not mind taking care of the star of the show.

"It looks old, like part of history. It is not brand-new," artist David Benson said. "That's what I like about it. It's becoming part of an artifact."

One of the largest new events for the celebration is New Year's Eve Around The World. From international food to belly dancing, visitors will be able to see how different countries celebrate when the clock strikes midnight.
