<b>CREEDMOOR, N.C.</b> — Police say a Creedmoor man charged with killing his wife has tried to kill himself twice behind bars.

A warrant for first-degree murder was issued Thursday against William Ray.

Investigators said Ray shot his wife Alene, 70, in the head last week. She died at Duke Hospital on Wednesday.

The Creedmoor police chief said William Ray was transferred to Central Prison for safekeeping.
