WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — Who has not dreamed of Ed McMahon ringing our doorbell with a million-dollar check? Well, it wasn't a million dollars, but two Apex teachers got a surprise visit from the prize patrol.

Bubbles the Clown made a surprise to Olive Chapel Elementary School Friday to tell Megan Poole and Karen E. Berryman that they won

from Wake Education Partnership.

A project of Wake Education Partnership since 1983, the Food for Thought Teacher Grants Program is designed to promote effective teaching to affect student achievement.

Besides getting visits from Bubbles, both teachers received checks for $2,500. Wake Education Partnership will award more than $56,000 in teacher grants next week.
