RALEIGH, N.C. — The Medical Examiner's Office confirm that the body of a woman found floating in Harris Lake is that of Pamela Cole, who had been reported missing.
The Wake County Sheriff's Office and the Sanford Police Department, while working together on a missing person's case, discovered a woman's body floating in Harris Lake around 3:15 p.m. Thursday.
According to the sheriff's office, Wake County investigators and Sanford police were searching the area because they believed a car found in Harris Lake Park more than a week ago belonged to Cole.
The medical examiner says the evidence shows that Cole drowned herself.
Cole reportedly left suicide notes for her three children, but family members say she would not kill herself. However, Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison says she had threatened suicide to her estranged husband.
