Patient Suing Raleigh Mental Health Facility Following Rape

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — A patient who was raped at a Raleigh psychiatric hospital is suing the facility.

A 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted twice at Holly Hill Hospital in June. Charles Spikes pleaded guilty to the rape.

The lawsuit filed Monday claims the hospital hired Spikes even though he had history of violence against women.

Wake County Court records show Spikes pleaded guilty to assault on a female in 1999. He received a prayer for judgement and paid court costs.
