RALEIGH, N.C. — There was a changing of the guard Monday afternoon in Wake County government.
County commissioners unanimously named Republican Kenn Gardner as their new chairman.
The architect was first elected to the board in 2000. He replaces Herb Council in the top job.
Wake commissioners also named former Knightdale Mayor Joe Bryan as the new vice-chair.
Gardner and Bryan will serve a one-year term in their chairman posts.
