Town Manager Confirms Resignations Of Fuquay-Varina Officers

Posted Updated

FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. — After months of silence, the town of Fuquay-Varina confirms that two of its police officers have resigned following allegations of misconduct.

Last July, officers Andrew Hunt and Jonathan Smith were accused of ransacking a suspect's car following a police chase. The officers were taken off the street, but no reason was given.

Tuesday night, Town Manager John Ellis finally gave the official reason. Ellis said an internal investigation confirmed the allegations.

Although the officers resigned, they maintain their innocence.
