Rocky Mount Officer Injured In Hit-And-Run

Rocky Mount police have charged a man with attempted murder and felony hit-and-run in an accident involving one of its officers.

Police said Aaron Sutton Jr., 20, ran over Cpl. Sandy Rose after a fender bender Monday morning.

They said Sutton bumped Rose's personal vehicle at a stoplight. When Rose, who was in uniform and on duty, got out to check the damage, investigators said Sutton tried to take off.

In the process he struck Rose, flipping her over the hood and running over her legs.

Rose is recovering at home with bruises.

Sutton is being held on $51,000 bond.
