The first incident occurred around noon on Oct. 17 on Woodmere Drive, and the second occurred midafternoon onOct. 30 on Shadyside Drive. The boys, age 9 and 11, do not know each other, according to police.
In both instances, police said the boys gave similar descriptions of the vehicle, which is described as a white SUV with a tinted rear window, and both said they were lured to the vehicle the same way.
"They reached their hand out the window and had a piece of candy and attempted to get the child to the vehicle," said Lt. Rick Grayson of the Raleigh Police Department.
Residents have passed out fliers, alerting others to the situation.
"It is frightening to think this could happen in a neighborhood where you think your children are safe," resident Andree Stanford said.
Police are especially concerned because both spots border Lynn Road Elementary and Shadyside Drive is an especially busy school drop-off point.
"The neighborhood kids are always up and down here and this is one of the main streets in and out of the neighborhood," resident Scott Sinor said.
Both boys gave similar descriptions of the men. Police said one man was described as white and clean-shaven and the other man as black. Police said they plan to interview the boys again in an attempt to create composites of the men.
