Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Fairgoers did their part and more Thursday at the at the 11th Annual Winn Dixie Day at the Fair.

Those who brought four cans of Thrifty Maid products got into the fair for free.

Officials with the North Carolina Food Bank set a goal of collecting 200,000 pounds of food during the one-day food drive, but said that number was exceeded.

Donations are always needed, but Hurricane Isabel put an extra strain on the food bank this year.
