RALEIGH, N.C. — The director of the Garner Road YMCA said vandals broke several windows in the building Saturday night and broke into vehicles.
Larry Jones suspects the vandals are teenagers and that the destruction happened Saturday between 8 p.m and 9:30 p.m.
"We're here for the kids. If the kids want to be part of the 'Y,' there's no cost to them to come inside this facility. We have a lot of kids that take advantage of that, and it's sad that these particular kids decided to do something that's disruptive like this," Jones said.
Damages at the YMCA are estimated at $11,000. Windows were also broken at a business across the street.
