Stock Up Now For Cold, Flu Season

CARY, N.C. — With cold and flu season right around the corner, now is the time to restock your medicine cabinet before you get sick.
Medicine cabinet must-haves include pain relief products, such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen and aspirin; antihistamines, like Claritin or Benadryl; and decongestants, such as Sudafed, for sinus pain. Cough medicine and nasal spray are also good to have in stock.
Even if you have medications in stock, have you checked them recently?
A recent survey shows two-thirds of people have medications that are expired or bottles that are nearly empty in the medicine cabinets.
Old medicines may lose their potency and should be thrown out. If you have children at home you need to do the same with their medicines.
Dr. Mask recommends keeping products in their original bottles and boxes so you have all the directions when youneed them.
