Authorities Investigate Carjacking At Fayetteville Restaurant

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fayetteville woman got more than she bargained for when a trip for Chinese food turned into a carjacking.

Witnesses say one or two suspects were hiding behind a wall near the China Chef Restaurant at 144 Owen Drive when the assailant(s) attacked the woman from behind and took her key and her car. Witnesses also say they heard gunshots.

"When I heard the gunshots go off, I went to hide. That's all I [saw]," said Suzzie Young, who was working the counter at the time.

Young said there has never been this kind of violence at the restaurant before.

"It was scary, believe me. You hear about things like this all the time, but you don't think it would happen during the day like this," she said.

Police say the victim, who has not been identified, was taken to the hospital. Investigators said she was not seriously hurt. Officers are looking for the suspects as well as the victim's tan Mazda Protege with N.C. license tag
