FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Some politicians are helping one of their own after he suffered an accident.
Fayetteville City Councilman D.J. Haire was at Fayetteville State University's homecoming game last year when deputies set off a smoke bomb as part of the celebration.
A fragment of the smoke bomb hit Haire in the head, causing him to lose some of his hearing.
Cumberland County leaders have now agreed to foot his bills, which has already topped $20,000.
