CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — A Cumberland County student was arrested Tuesday for bringing weapons on campus.

Investigators say 18-year old William Barfield, a student at Pine Forest High School, had a knife, a .22-caliber semi-automatic rifle and 500 rounds of ammunition.

Barfield was released on $1,000 unsecured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning.

Deputies say at this point, there is no evidence Barfield planned to hurt anyone.
