Success Of Isabel Donation Drive Measured In Tons

RALEIGH, N.C. — Kindness and generosity were measured in tons on Friday,when WRAL-TV5, WRAL.com, MIX 101.5 & FOX50 viewers andlisteners answered the call to help meet the immediate needs of those hithardest by Hurricane Isabel.

Volunteers collected nearly 56,000 pounds of food, cleaning supplies, papergoods and bottled water, filling five tractor-trailers.

All of these items will be delivered and distributed directly to hurricane victims by the FoodBank of North Carolina.

In addition to these items, over $2,600 in cash donations were made to the Food Bank, the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army.
