CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — Officials have identified remains found in a Cumberland County field as a man missing since May.
Wednesday, the State Medical Examiners Office positively identified the remains as those of 39-year-old Daryl Eugene Avery.
On Sept. 7, skeletal remains were found in a field on the south side of Raeford Road near Gillis Hills Road in the west Side of Cumberland County.
Avery was reported missing by a family member on May 13.
According to his family, Avery was last seen at his Fayetteville home on April 13.
A cause of death has not yet been determined.
