County officials began planning on Monday to make sure that appropriate resources are in place to assist residents if problems arise.
On Thursday, Sept. 18, all offices will open at normal hours but will close at noon. Latest reports indicate that more severe conditions may be present in this area later in the day.
The Durham County Emergency Management Office will be staffed until the storm passes. If necessary, the Durham City-County Joint Information Center will be activated to help assist citizens with general information about available resources, shelters, supplies and non-life threatening medical situations.
If the JIC is activated, citizens will be able to call the customary 560-HELP for assistance in English and Spanish.
The Durham Neighborhood College Class, scheduled for Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Durham County Commissioners Chambers, 200 E. Main Street , has been cancelled.
