Isabel Forces Amtrak To Shut Down Service To N.C.

— Weather conditions associated with Hurricane Isabel have prompted state transportation and

Amtrak

officials to cancel all trains Thursday that provide service in North Carolina.

The following trains will be affected:

  • Piedmont (trains 73,74), which provides service between Raleigh and Charlotte
  • Carolinian (trains 79, 80), which operates between Charlotte and New York City
  • Crescent (trains 19, 20), which runs between New York City and New Orleans
  • Silver Meteor (trains 97, 98), which provides service between New York and Florida
  • Silver Star (trains 91, 92), which provides service between New York and Florida
  • Palmetto (trains 89, 90), which provides service between New York and Florida
  • No decisions have been made about train services for Friday.

    Customers with questions regarding train schedules and tickets should call Amtrak at 1-800-USA-RAIL.
