ORANGE COUNTY, N.C. — A Maryland woman was killed Sunday in a wreck northeast of Hillsborough.
Investigators said Rita Simon, of Rockville, Md., died and eight others were injured in the wreck at the intersection of New Sharon Church Road and Schley Road.
The Highway Patrol said the driver of a minivan ran a stop sign and slammed into a pickup truck. Simon was a passenger in the pickup, which investigators said flipped over onto the side of the road.
Charges are pending.
