FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said Friday that skeletal remains found Thursday in a Fayetteville field have been positively identified by the state medical examiner as being Elsie Hales, a 76-year-old woman who had been missing for two and half months.
Officials said the cause of death is expected to be determined next week.
