Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Gov. Mike Easley has rolled out the list of road improvements included in a $700 million highway project.

The project includes 500 road widening and resurfacing projects, along with 189 bridge replacements.

State leaders approved the plan in hopes it would boost the economy in areas of the state hardest hit by unemployment.

Gov. Easley said the program will have a $4 billion economic impact and provide 30,000 new jobs.
