RALEIGH, N.C. — A student at Wake Technical Community College who was injured in a wreck in front of the school has died.
Tooba Khan, 19, was critically injured in the Aug. 21 crash. She died Monday.
The wreck Khan was involved in was one of four within four days on Highway 401 near the entrance to the college.
The college has since asked the Department of Transportation to lower the speed limit on that stretch of roadway.
The DOT installed new speed limit signs urging drivers to slow down to 45 mph, but the legal speed limit remains at 55 mph.
DOT officials are studying crash data to find a permanent solution.
