Raleigh Latest Capital Stop For Paralyzed Boy, Father

print friendly

An 10-year-old boy from Boston flew to the Triangle Tuesday on a mission that has taken him across the United States.

Garrett Burgess and his dad, Benton, are raising money and awareness for spinal cord injury research.

Garrett is paralyzed from the neck down. He was seriously injured in a car accident when he was 4 years old.

The Burgesses have spent the summer flying cross country -- stopping in every state capital.

Raleigh was their second-to-last stop before a trip to Washington, D.C. Wednesday Garrett is scheduled to meet Sen. Elizabeth Dole.
