Red-Light Cameras Paying Off In Rocky Mount

Posted Updated

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Red-light cameras are busy in Rocky Mount. The city has issued more than 5,000 citations since the cameras went up last fall.

The cameras are located at five intersections. But almost half of the tickets came from Wesleyan Boulevard and Stone Rose Drive.

Rocky Mount's traffic engineer said he is happy with the success of the program.

Raleigh just put up red-light cameras a month ago, and Chapel Hill is about to get them.

Fayetteville has had red-light cameras watching drivers for more than year.
