Durham Inmate Faces Five Charges In Attempted Escape

DURHAM, N.C. — The list of charges is growing against an inmate who was shot while trying to escape in Durham.

Police say Vincent Sigona will face felony charges of escape and charges of assault, kidnapping, assault on a female and common-law robbery for his attempted run from the law Aug. 7 at Durham Regional Hospital.

Sigona was taken to the hospital after complaining of stomach pains. He later escaped from a detention officer.

Sigona was shot in the parking lot by a security guard after he allegedly tried to steal a car. He is listed in stable condition at Duke University Hospital.
