Plan In Place To Consolidate Transit Systems

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — A plan to consolidate the Triangle's six major transit systems soon could be full speed ahead.

The idea: replace the local systems in Durham, Raleigh, Cary and Chapel Hill with one organization that provides public transportation to the entire region.

The Durham Area Transit Authority has been considering the blueprint since last week.

Planners say if the proposal is adopted, it could be up and running by 2007.
