Granville Officials Want To Convert Prison Into New Animal Shelter

Posted Updated

GRANVILLE COUNTY, N.C. — Granville County thinks it has come up with an inventive way to expand its animal shelter.

Officials hope to move the shelter to an old state prison site. The county would convert the old prison cells into holding areas for the animals.

Granville County commissioners will vote on the plan Monday night.

The county says its current shelter is too small and too old. If approved, renovations to the old prison could begin in three to six months.
