RALEIGH, N.C. — Let the building begin on Raleigh's new convention center.
Monday, Wake County Commissioners approved using the hotel and meals tax to fund the project.
The new convention center and hotel site is just to the west of the current center.
Monday's vote clears the way to buy the land and hire a design firm so construction can begin in 2005.
