e-mail print friendly

Police in Durham said cooperation and good communication among law enforcement agencies led to the arrest of a Durham murder suspect in Virginia.

Police in Norfolk, Va. arrested Brian Keith Hargrove Wednesday night while he was attending a domestic violence course as part of a previous conviction.

Hargrove, 29, of Virginia Beach, Va., is charged with murder. He was transported to Durham Thursday night and is scheduled to make his first court appearance Friday morning.

Authorities said Hargrove and his cousin, Dennis Hargrove, stormed into a home on East Markham Street June 25 and shot four females -- two adults, a teenager and a toddler at close range.

One woman, Collette Moss later died from the attack.

Police have not given a motive in the shooting, but they are not ruling out the possibility it could be gang or drug related.

Durham police and city leaders said they are very aware of the public outrage this crime caused. Police said they are doing all they can to find Dennis Hargrove and provide closure to this crime.

Dennis Hargrove who has been charged with one count of murder and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and inflicting serious injury in that shooting. Police said he goes by several aliases, including Chuck Hargrove, Dennis Venable and Chuckie Venable.
