Weekend Crackdown Leads To 50 DWI Arrests

RALEIGH, N.C. — The state's drunk driving and boating crackdown over the Fourth of July weekend netted 50 arrests. Six of those arrested were behind the controls of a boat.
Law agencies from across the state set up checkpoints in several areas, including Durham. Four people were arrested in the Bull City for drunk driving.
Durham did not see the most arrests. Six drunk drivers were arrested in North Topsail Beach. One Charlotte checkpoint netted five arrests.
