Two Cumberland Jailers Placed On Paid Leave

Posted Updated

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — Two female jailers at the Cumberland County Jail are on paid leave.

Sheriff Earl "Moose" Butler says the women were placed on leave while officials investigate accusations that the jailers were helping smuggle drugs to prisoners.

The Sheriff's Office first became aware of the accusations Thursday.

The State Bureau of Investigation will help with the investigation.
