Authorities Release Johnston Man Accused Of Shooting Neighbor

Posted Updated

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — A Johnston County man who shot and killed his neighbor is out of jail.

Authorities released Ronnie Lewis on $10,000 bond. Investigators arrested him in April after he allegedly shot Charles McCain.

Authorities say McCain broke down Lewis' door after Lewis allegedly exposed himself to McCain's son.

The district attorney did not press murder charges because he said deadly force was justified. But in October, Lewis will be tried on charges of taking indecent liberties with a minor.
