DURHAM, N.C. — A court hearing for two former Durham police officers accused of assaulting a restaurant cook has been continued.

Officers Gary Lee and Scott Tanner were fired from the force earlier in September. Investigators believe the two men were off-duty when they assaulted Rene Thomas outside Blinco's Sports Bar in Raleigh in July.

Lee and Tanner were scheduled to be in court Monday on assault charges. Their court date has been rescheduled for Oct. 30.

Three other off-duty officers who were at the restaurant at the time of the incident were cleared of any wrongdoing.
