Woman Found Dead In Fayetteville Home; Husband Charged

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police have arrested a 30-year-old Fayetteville man after his wife was found slain early Thursday.

Sophia McRae, 25, was found dead in her home at 6304 Crestwood Ave. at about 5:40 a.m. Thursday, police said.

Police charged Dexter Tremaine McRae, of 245 Russellville Court, with first-degree murder, first-degree rape and first-degree burglary in connection with his wife's death.

No details about the cause of death or a motive have been released.

The incident is still under investigation, and police ask anyone who had contact with Sophia McRae between Wednesday morning and Thursday morning to call detectives at 910-433-1856.
