RAEFORD, N.C. — Unilever is laying off 26 employees, or 10 percent of the workforce at its plant in Raeford.

The facility produces deodorants and personal care liquids.

The layoffs are part of Unilever's plan to "achieve manufacturing and operating efficiencies," the company said in a statement.

Some 216 people remain on the job. Those who lost their jobs will receive a severance package and outplacement help, the company said.

Another 30 people work in corporate offices in Raeford, which is in Hoke County.
