Four people were arrested Sunday in connection with a drag race held in Halifax County, authorities said.

Highway Patrol troopers received information of a pre-arranged drag race scheduled for late Sunday near the Nash County line, and they observed the set-up and the completion of one race, authorities said. Troopers converged on the area at about 11:45 p.m. and seized a 2006 Ford Mustang GT and a Honda Civic with a supercharged engine and nitrous oxide.

Jimmy Shadell Richardson, of 32281 N.C. Highway 561 in Littleton, and George Harrison III, of Hollister, were charged with participating in a prearranged speed competition. Kevin Buchanan Richardson, of 32281 N.C. 561 in Littleton, was charged with aiding and abetting a prearranged speed competition. Ronnie Anthony Mills, of 1322 Mills Road in Hollister, was charged with permitting a vehicle to be used in a prearranged speed competition.

Additional charges are pending, authorities said.

Anyone with information about drag racing is asked to call the state Highway Patrol at 252-446-8144. Arrests usually result from public tips about races, authorities said.
