Boil-Water Alert Rescinded For Scotland Neck

Posted Updated

SCOTLAND NECK, N.C. — A boil-water order has been lifted for residents of Scotland Neck, and officials said that water in the area is now safe for human consumption without taking special measures.

Town officials said late Saturday afternoon that six water samples collected in the affected area have tested negative for coliform and harmful bacteria. On Friday, health officials said they had previously found coliform in water samples.

Coliform bacterium is generally not harmful, but it may be a sign that harmful bacteria might be present.
