SMITHFIELD, N.C. — A woman charged with killing her boyfriend will not face the death penalty.
Tiffany Bassett is charged with shooting and killing Keith West. West was found shot to death in his bedroom in July.
The state will not seek the death penalty because they found no evidence to support aggravated circumstances, a requirement to seek a death sentence.
West and Bassett shared a baby daughter.
