Second Person Dies After Weekend Accident

GREENVILLE, N.C. — A second person injured in an accident Sunday in Four Oaks has died.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol said Monday that the individual died at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

Another person traveling in the van died Sunday after it flipped twice near Barrett Road and N.C. Highway 96 in Four Oaks. Three other people were taken to Pitt Memorial and two were transported to WakeMed. Their conditions, however, were not immediately clear.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims or any of the other 12 people in the van at the time of the accident.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
