WakeMed Incident
RALEIGH, N.C. — A bizarre series of events at a Raleigh hospital left a lawman with minor injuries and another person hospitalized with gunshot wounds.

According to authorities, a man dropped off the shooting victim, 24-year-old Dennis Nettles Jr., at the WakeMed emergency room around 4:30 a.m. Saturday. When an agent of the City County Bureau of Identification and a WakeMed police officer attempted to question the driver, he allegedly got back in his vehicle and sped away. The CCBI agent, who had been leaning into the passenger side window, was thrown back onto the pavement and received minor scrapes from the incident.

Raleigh police are now investigating the shooting, but said they have not yet obtained details about where it occurred or information on possible suspects. There is no description of the driver or the vehicle at this time.
