FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Cumberland County sheriff's detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying two men wanted in connection with a robbery and beating that occurred late last month.

Clarence Thomas Driggers, 51, told investigators he was assaulted by two unknown men in the parking lot of the Vander Light Grill at 2529 Clinton Road on the evening of July 22.

The attackers took a $20 bill from Driggers' wallet and left in his blue 1977 Chevrolet van, which police recovered on Racepath Street shortly after the robbery, authorities said.

Investigators said Driggers had picked up his assailants at an unknown location in Fayetteville before he pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant to locate a jug of water to put in his vehicle radiator.

Driggers was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he received treatment for wounds to his head, numerous abrasions and bruises to his face, back of his neck and right leg.

Detectives said the two suspects were last seen wearing white shirts and black pants. They are described as having dark complexions, one with dreadlock-styled hair and the other with short hair.

Anyone with information regarding this crime or the suspects wanted in connection with this crime is urged to contact the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at
