Two Granville Schools Evacuated Due To Alleged Threat

Posted Updated

CREEDMOOR, N.C. — Two Granville County schools were evacuated early Tuesday afternoon after a threatening note was found, authorities said.

According to Creedmoor police, South Granville High School and the Granville Health School building were evacuated and students were sent home around 1:45 p.m. after a student found the note. The two schools are located on the same campus.

A search of the school grounds revealed no weapons or any other evidence, authorities said. School is scheduled to reopen at its normal time on Wednesday.

A mercury scare shut down South Granville High for several days last fall after two students stole mercury from an unlocked cabinet. Hazardous material crews were called in to clean up the possible contamination. The students involved were disciplined.
