DURHAM, N.C. — High levels of lead were found in one of the drinking fountains at Northern High School in Durham.
The school system decided to test the water after city officials discovered lead in a number of homes last month. The elevated level found at Northern High was the only one found in all 27 schools.
For now, staff and students at the school will drink bottled water. Results from more extensive testing are expected back next week.
