Man Arrested After Allegedly Firing AK-47 At Deputies

Posted Updated

SAXAPAHAW, N.C. — A man who shot at Alamance County deputies with an AK-47 Monday night was captured Tuesday morning at a highway rest stop, authorities said.

Stanley Bane, 50, was arrested at the Interstate 40 rest stop without incident, authorities said. There was no word on what charges would be filed in the case.

When Alamance County deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call at about 10:30 p.m. Monday off N.C. Highway 119 south of Graham, they were told an armed man was inside. Deputies evacuated the home, but the man fled in a vehicle, authorities said.

The man drove to the River Mill area in Saxapahaw, where he got out and fired an AK-47 at the deputies, authorities said. He then fled the area, and authorities spent the night searching for him.

No one was injured in the incident.
