RALEIGH, N.C. — Police took two suspects into custody after a multi-car pursuit on the Beltline late Friday afternoon.

According to police, an officer saw a stolen vehicle and followed it until other units initiated a felony traffic stop in the area of Wilmington and Pecan streets. Police said the vehicle slowed and began to stop, and a passenger was leaving the vehicle when the driver suddenly accelerated away, striking the passenger in the process.

The pursuit led to the Beltline and around to the vicinity of the New Bern Avenue interchange, where stop sticks were deployed and the vehicle was stopped. Police detained the driver and another person afterward.

Police said that charges are pending in the incident. There is no word on the condition of the person hit by the fleeing car.
