23 Wake Schools Suggested For Year-Round Conversion

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Wake County school leaders presented the school board Tuesday with a list of 23 schools they want to become year-round.

Those schools could switch to the year-round schedule at the start of the 2007-2008 school year. School leaders originally selected 30 schools for year-round conversion, but Brooks Elementary, Forestville Elementary, Fuquay-Varina Elementary, Holly Ridge Elementary, Lacy Elementary, Wildwood Forest Elementary and York Elementary schools were dropped from the list.

The Board had originally planned to receive staff's recommendations during a meeting scheduled for Aug. 15, but decided to move the meeting up in an effort to provide the public with a greater opportunity for input.

There is a public hearing on Aug. 28. The board will finalize the list on Sept. 5.
